Joinery Manager / Team Leader

The Sofa and Chair Company are currently looking to recruit a professional and experienced Joinery Team Leader / Manager who will be responsible for the motivation, welfare and training of a team of 8-9 staff in the Joinery workshop.

Reports directly to the Production Manager

You will be fully responsible fir the wood workshop managing the workflow , looking after projects right through the frame production process to ensure the project team leader receive their furniture on the agreed time scale, to the correct specification and meeting the highest quality standards. You will have hands-on bench carpentry experience in the manufacture of furniture.

Key Skills Required

• Professional joinery/carpentry qualifications
• A strong background within the field of joinery
• Good Planning and organisation skills
• Good communication skills
• Man management / good leadership skills for a multi cultural workforce
• Good management / production experience gained in a similar company.
• The ability to introduce good manufacturing practice
• Computer skills - MS Office
• Knowledge / understanding of technical drawings
• Understanding of Staining & Polishing will be beneficial
• Good understanding of Health and Safety.

Accountabilities

• Manage a team of 8 / 9 Joiners and 1 Polisher.
• Recruiting, developing and motivating of the team.
• The planning and production scheduling of works orders.
• Maintain all woodworking equipment and machinery.
• Ordering materials for the wood workshop.
• Effective communications and attending regular meetings.
• Inspection of completed frames to ensure compliance to technical drawing.
• Provide technical support and guidance for CAD and design team in the construction of frames.
• Liaising regularly with other departments (including Upholstery Workshop and Sales team) to ensure work is completed to customer requirements.
